Fluffy fronts  

Eyebrow tattooing should look soft and natural when you have no makeup on.  Microblading is a meant to look ‘perfectly imperfect’ following the natural brow pattern, rather than stamped on. The Laelia Brow supernatural results are achieved by always following the natural brow growth. Following the natural brow growth will keep the front of the brows looking natural and fluffy which is paramount to creating our supernatural results.  

Clients often ask to not be given a squared off, blocky look at the front of the brow, and we avoid this by keeping the first few hair strokes in the brow as soft and natural as possible to create a airy look rather than aanything blocky. Laelia Brows is known for its signature natural look and if a client requests a different style, I recommend that the client has a natural looking brow permanently microbladed and, if desired, they can fill in a different style of brow with makeup once the brows have healed.  

To create our natural microblading we believe the hair strokes in the front of the brow should have a slight tilt toward the tail of the brow. Aligning the strokes so they have a natural tilt towards the tail of the brow will ensure a natural look. The front hair strokes should flow effortlessly towards the tail of the brow.  

Everyone’s brows have a different growth pattern and we take this into account when designing a bespoke pattern for each of our clients. This is paramount to creating our natural style, unfortunately when microblading doesn’t follow the natural brow growth pattern the brows will not look natural when healed. By following the natural brow pattern, Laelia Brows creates microblading that blends seamlessly with our client’s natural brows.

To create my fluffy brows the very first hair stroke I make is a softening stroke that floats in between the upper and lower brow line that I have mapped. Then I concentrate on breaking up my hair strokes to create a more realistic effect. This means avoiding repetitive lines of hair strokes, one after the other, all the same length and distance apart. Natural brow hairs don’t grow this way. Breaking up the hair strokes also gives the finished brows more natural density creating a soft natural fluffy brow.   

 To break up a hair stroke, I will create a hair stroke from the lower brow line up halfway to the upper brow line, then, place another hairstroke meeting this first hair stroke. Using this technique to break up the hair strokes, I follow the client’s natural brow growth pattern slightly curving each hair stroke, even at the beginning of the brow. This avoids the healed brow appearing blocky and square. 

Transition strokes should be short and blend your front strokes into the tail of the brow. It is essential to keep these strokes short as if they are too long it will look very unnatural. Curve the hair stokes in the pattern of the brow and the transition hair stoke will flow into the body/tail of the brow. To complete the natural look, when creating your downward hairstrokes after the transition, you want to hug them to the top of the brow so they extend outwards to the tail not downwards. 

 When placing super thin hairstrokes precisely into the skin, you need to be strategic about the placement of the strokes, look at where your client’s brow hairs start and try to follow this pattern. For optimal healed results, you will need to be careful how you place the hairstrokes in the skin. When too many hairstrokes are placed in the skin the brow will experience excess trauma and not every hair stroke will survive the healing process. It is important to work slowly and methodically. Frantically microblading will create hair strokes that overlap or cross over each other. It’s always better to place the hair strokes further apart and add more at the touch-up appointment than to over-work the skin.   

 Once you’re in the skin remember to keep your flow through the stroke at a steady speed and an even pressure. Keeping the speed consistent throughout the pull-through ensures ample and even pigment deposit. Keep even pressure until you are at the top of the hair stokes and then lift off and lighten your pressure for a tapered effect to your hairstrokes.
