The journey through cancer treatment is often marked by profound changes, many of which are physical and deeply personal. One of the most noticeable can be hair loss, not only on the scalp but also in the brows. Eyebrows frame the face and play a huge role in how we see ourselves, so their loss can feel particularly difficult. Brow tattooing, whether through microblading or nano brows, offers a way to restore this feature with softness and subtlety, helping clients feel more like themselves again.
Not every client will be suited to brow tattooing during or after treatment, and timing is very important. Microblading and nano brows involve implanting pigment into the skin, so the skin needs to be strong enough to heal well and hold colour. For this reason, I always require written medical clearance from your oncologist before booking an appointment. Some clients choose to have their brows tattooed before chemotherapy begins, which can be a proactive way of preparing for the possibility of hair loss. This allows us to design a shape that feels natural to you while your brows are still in place, and the initial healing can be completed before treatment starts. A touch-up session, usually due 6–8 weeks later, is then postponed until after chemotherapy, when the skin is ready again.
Others prefer to wait until after treatment has finished. In this case, I recommend allowing at least 8 weeks after chemotherapy for the body to rest, recover, and for the immune system to regain strength. This pause is important for both your health and for the quality of the healed result. Microblading is never performed during chemotherapy itself, as the skin is too sensitive and the risk of irritation, bleeding, and infection is much higher.
Every client’s journey is unique. For some, brow tattooing before treatment helps ease the emotional impact of hair loss, while for others, waiting until the end of treatment feels like the right choice. In both cases, the result is the same: soft, natural brows designed to restore balance, frame your face, and give you back one less thing to worry about day to day.
At Laelia Brows, my approach is always gentle and considered. Each set of brows is created individually, with extra attention to natural flow and softness. Whether your brows are thinning or have been lost completely, I use advanced stroke patterns to mimic natural hair growth, ensuring the final result feels like “you.”
As part of my commitment to supporting women through and beyond their cancer journey, Laelia Brows offers one complimentary brow tattooing appointment every month for a cancer survivor. This is my way of giving back and helping restore a sense of confidence and normality after such a challenging time.
Brow tattooing during or after cancer treatment is not just cosmetic, it can also be a step towards regaining confidence and normality in a time when so much else feels out of your control. With the right timing, medical guidance, and careful artistry, it is possible to create brows that heal beautifully and bring a renewed sense of self back into the mirror.
