One of the most common things clients notice immediately after their appointment is that their brows look darker or more defined than they expected. This is completely normal and is simply part of the healing process.
During microblading, pigment is placed very carefully into the upper layers of the skin. This allows the pigment to remain semi-permanent while still healing softly within the skin. Once the brows are healed the pigment sits just beneath the surface, it is always seen through the layers of skin above it.
Right after the procedure, the pigment can appear stronger because it has just been implanted and the skin has not yet begun to regenerate over it. The area may also be slightly inflamed, and the pigment sits closer to the surface at this stage, which can make the colour appear more intense during the first few days.
As the skin begins to heal, it naturally renews itself. The upper layers of skin regenerate and gradually settle over the pigment. These layers of skin act like a natural filter, softening the appearance of the colour underneath.
Over the following weeks, the pigment settles into the skin and the brows begin to soften. The strokes appear more blended and natural than they did immediately after the treatment. This is why the final healed result always looks more subtle.
Healing happens gradually over several weeks. During this time it is normal for the brows to go through changes in colour and softness as the skin continues to regenerate. As this process takes place, the pigment becomes filtered through the skin, creating the soft, natural effect that microblading is known for.
Fresh microblading is only the beginning of the process. Beautiful brows are designed to heal naturally and blend seamlessly with your existing brow hair rather than appear overly bold or heavy. At Laelia Brows, every treatment is performed with the healed result in mind so that the brows settle into the skin in a way that looks balanced, soft and natural.
If your brows appear slightly darker during the first few days after your appointment, there is no need to worry. This is simply part of the normal healing process. As the skin regenerates, the skin filter effect gradually softens the pigment, revealing the natural, effortless result your brows were designed to achieve.
