Do you see the shape of the brow before tattooing?
Yes of course, brow mapping is a crucial part of your appointment and allows you to see the shape of the brows before going ahead with any tattooing. Brow mapping allows you to feel confident in the look of your new brows before we make them permanent.
To create your shape, I start your pre-draw in pencil, using the golden ratio method and carefully measuring your facial features to see what best suits your face. I find that most people have varied contours and bone structures on each side of their face so my goal when brow mapping is to find harmony and balance between my eyebrow design and the client’s face. Taking care during the design phase results in eyebrows that are most flattering to your features.
Once the brow shape has been drawn you will be asked to give final approval of the shape before we start any cosmetic tattooing.
What happens during a consultation?
I offer in-person consultations and phone consultations. During the in-person consultations, we will chat about your desired outcome for your brows and what you are hoping to achieve with cosmetic tattooing. I will then provide an in-depth brow mapping and facial analysis. We will discuss together the outline to give you an idea of the perfect shape of brow that compliments both your facial structure and your personal style. I also use this time to answer any questions you have about the procedure and address any concerns you have. It’s also a great chance for you to look at my portfolio of work to help you decide what style of cosmetic tattooing you prefer. Then we will also decide which type of semi-permanent eyebrow treatment will work best for you – Microblading, Ombré or Fusion Brows.
Consultations aren’t required before booking as in your appointment. I also leave time for a consultation before we start the procedure and would never go ahead with the procedure if I felt you, weren’t a candidate.
Phone consultations can be done via FaceTime or Zoom. Clients can send unedited photos of their brows and I will discuss your desired outcome for your brows, taking into account your skin type, skin tone/colour and your lifestyle. This allows me to decide what treatment will heal and age the best for you. My consultations are absolutely thorough, so all clients feel very comfortable and happy by the time we proceed to booking an appointment.
I have really light blonde eyebrows, what is the lightest shade you can do?
I know a lot of blonde clients are scared microblading will look too dark and obviously tattooed with their fair brow hairs, however I specialise in blonde microblading that heals so soft and beautifully. I’ve worked with all shades of blonde and I will usually mix colours together to get a more dimensional colour match for my lighter clients to ensure their brows heal soft and blend seamlessly with their natural brows. I can match any shade of blonde with a range of colours in the salon. I have many examples of my blonde microblading on my Instagram.
Can I wear makeup to my appointment or do you require a clean face?
Yes, you can wear makeup to your appointment, I will cleanse your skin prior to any cosmetic tattooing.
How common is scarring from microblading? Is there anything a client can do to prevent this?
When microblading is performed correctly by an experienced technician who correctly knows the skin anatomy and how to achieve perfect depth when microblading it shouldn’t cause scarring.
Scarring is caused by two main factors: the first is if your artist goes too deep in the dermis during your procedure and the second has to do with some complication with your healing, such as an infection, that occurs after your procedure.
If your skin is in good health and you don’t have any underlying conditions/medical history, you shouldn’t get scarring from microblading.
Will my brows become blurry and blocky if I have too many touch ups?
The answer to this question depends on the amount of ink saturated in your brows, after your 6 week touch up your next touch up will be your annual touch up. I advise my clients to wait 1.5 to 2 years for their annual touch up, over this time the ink in your brows will fade and shrink allowing your next touch up to look light and fresh.
However, many artists do too many touch ups for their clients and this leads to over saturated brows. It’s important to understand that your brows won’t look perfect as they begin to fade in between each touch up, this is normal and not a reason to come back for more ink. Less is more with permanent makeup, by limiting touch ups we can uphold the integrity of your skin and you will have soft natural cosmetic tattooing long term. We want your brows to be your natural brows but better! They can always be filled in with makeup as you would with your natural brows between touch ups.
Should I grow out my natural brows before my appointment?
If clients have a brow shape/style, they like and regularly have waxed/ threaded then they can wax them before their appointment. If clients prefer Laelia Brows to reshape their brows according to individual facial features, then it’s best to leave them and then we can work with all your brow hair in your appointment. I will remove any hair outside your desired shape in your appointment. I also advise clients not to tint their brows before the appointment so we can colour match to their natural brow colour.
Does microblading completely fade over time?
Microblading when implanted correctly into the skin is semi-permanent and will fade over 2-3 years, during this time you can still fill in the gaps with brow makeup, until you decide to refresh your brow tattoo. Or you can just let the hair strokes disappear and go back to your old brows. It’s important to choose an artist who knows the correct technique for semi-permanent microblading to avoid microblading that doesn’t naturally fade over time.
Do you provide aftercare packs and instructions?
Yes, I provide all my clients with detailed aftercare pack with detailed instructions on how to care for your new brows, a sample jar of Cetaphil cleanser, aftercare cream and visors to use in the shower to keep your brows dry. My full aftercare instructions are also detailed in the aftercare information on my website. https://laeliabrows.com/aftercare
How long does it take to get your brows done?
I allocate 2.5 hours for my appointments, this time includes a consultation, numbing, pre-mapping the brow shape and microblading. Most clients are surprised at how little time the actual tattooing takes.
